Clinic Redesign
The University Health Clinic is located on the UW-Madison campus, and it provides many ser vices to the students. The 5th floor offers prima ry care, physical therapy, lab work, and radiology. The purpose of this redesign is to take the exist ing clinic and transform it into a more welcom ing and therapeutic environment that caters to both the physical and mental health of the us ers. The users include but are not limited to the students, doctors, nurses, and staff members.

There are also a variety of ways that the rooms and walls were laid. This was done in order to make certain portions of the floor plan feel smaller and easier to navigate. The entire walkway of the floor loops around which limits the opportunities of getting lost. There was a priority with optimizing the amount of daylight that goes into the clinic. There are several open spaces alongside the exterior walls that would be providing that natural light to fill the space. There are also two outdoor spac es located at the front and back of the building, that provides us ers with that opportunity to take in the natural daylight directly.
The materials selected included shapes and colors that are naturally found. There is a calmness to these selections that we wanted to emulate in the clinic. Nature is also in credibily intricate and deco rated so the general direction is to incorporate reoccuring shapes that are found in life.

NATURAL LIGHT
Our design needed to be done in a way that natural light is shown throughout as much of the space as possible.
WAYFINDING & CIRCULATION
The floor plans needed to be accessible to all users. Features like guiding ceiling lights and room labels are included to help navigate the space.
LEVEL OF CLEANLINESS
The redesign layout is based on keeping the sterile rooms separate and far removed from the general public.
PRIVATE VS PUBLIC
There is a range of spaces in the new clinic that caters towards providing private, public and semiprivate areas.
